As you can tell by the quality of english – this is not my writing. This is adapted from Manu Joseph‘s article “What the hell is a smart city”, the pub bit is taken from this article called “For Indians, much depends on family background“. His first book Serious Men is an absolute treat – it reads like a film, a really funny film.
He has the ability to express his point of view without any garble. Example this bit from an article on railways – “Indian Railways is primarily a form of employment that also runs trains.”
I earlier used a bit from Serious Men in the Chak De France comic, but was itching to do a longer piece.
Mr.Joseph is a BAKARMAX certified baap aadmi. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t idolise people who are alive.

Bhai, this comic feels fresh, not only because of how it is written, but also how it is drawn. Besides, this confirms all my reservations and prejudice against this hell hole of a city. Another brilliant comic !!
Haan yaar, used a different style for coloring. Although someone said – “ye to simpson se teepa hua hai” Aur monotony to har artist ki life ka conclusion hai.

It may be a hell-hole but it is my hell hole so fuck you good sir. Gurgaon is already a smart city, just look at all the pubs and malls you ignorant buffoon.

The bit with the people on the dance floor is the best / funniest. found the other parts to be mostly tragic
I like the Avengers’ like reference to Icchadhari tatti in jail part of the webcomic. It the hero Gurugram deserves, through quota.
It made me sad, but it made me want to laugh heartily. Last time I remember having this mix of feelings was probably a Hirani movie. Compliment hai sir jee, thank you mat bhulna.. i mean mat bolna 🙂
Especially don’t idolize people like Manu Joseph, who do rape and caste apologia time and again. Also goes without saying
